DOUG RICHARD’S SCHOOL FOR STARTUPS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM

The University of Birmingham is pleased to be hosting Doug Richard’s School for Startups which comes at a time of heightened interest in entrepreneurship and self-employment for students and graduates. Birmingham’s student enterprise society, BEES, is a thriving community of nascent entrepreneurs, and all students at the University and in the region will benefit from Doug’s expert advice and guidance.

At “Start Here! Starting & Growing a Successful Business” you will learn:

• The key questions every entrepreneur must be able to answer before starting or growing a business
• How to write the perfect business model
• How to identify your product and your market
• How to start an affordable marketing campaign to increase your sales leads
• How to treat the recession as an opportunity, rather than a threat
• How to make money and secure investment

The City of Birmingham is currently a hotbed of entrepreneurial activity. The beginning of 2010 sees the launch of B-SEEN, a business start-up support programme for graduates. Bringing together University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University and Aston University, the scheme will offer a six-month tenure in incubator space, with a seedcorn grant, training, coaching and mentoring.
